Dussehra / Vijayadashami 2026

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, will be celebrated in Bagalkot District on 20 October 2026. The festival marks the victory of good over evil and is traditionally associated with the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana and Goddess Durga over Mahishasura. Religious institutions and communities conduct special prayers, cultural programmes and traditional ceremonies during the occasion. Public celebrations may include processions, cultural presentations, devotional activities and community gatherings depending on the local organising committees. The festival is particularly significant as it marks the culmination of the Navaratri period. Families and visitors participate in the celebrations and exchange greetings while observing traditional customs. According to the Bagalkot-specific festival timing, Vijayadashami falls on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, with the recommended Vijay Muhurat from 2:09 PM to 2:56 PM.
